GIS (Maps)

Open access to geographically based information has many potential benefits. Some examples of these benefits include increased community engagement, ability to identify business potential more efficiently, and governmental transparency and accountability.

The Town of Flower Mound Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department is part of the Information Technology Division. GIS is responsible for geo-spatial data development and maintenance activities, spatial analysis, GIS application development and deployment, and the authoring/publication of various mapping products to support the Town of Flower Mound’s departmental business needs.

Mapping and Data Products


  • Interactive Mapping (Public Map Viewer) - Mapping tool used to query, analyze, and print geographical information such as land ownership, school districts, zoning, parks, trails, etc.
  • GIS Data Downloads (Open Data) - Interactive application used to discover, explore, and download geographically based data authored by the Town of Flower Mound GIS Department.

All available GIS data made available for download is provided in ESRI shapefile, Keyhole Markup Language (KML), and spreadsheet formats. This data is projected to North Central Texas State Plane (Zone 4202), North American Datum 1983 (NAD83), and units are expressed in US feet.
